ideally yes. but there is already a huge deficit in housing, and heavy opposition. until there is some handle on this crisis - we should stop office approvals. otherwise office space gets built anyways and we are just deeper in the hole.

Yes, but… a responsible regional plan would focus new office jobs in downtown Oakland, in empty lots very close to BART; and new housing in downtown SF, linked to Oakland with excess BART tube peak hour capacity. But SF subsidized Twitter where housing should go.

and everyone's talking about a new transbay tube which would be great, but costly, compared to better regional planning and reinstatement of rail on the Bay Bridge. (Oh, wait, we spent >$6 billion to replace a rail-capable bridge with one that can't handle it.)
