My sons AP US History teacher told the class “some things can be debated and you can have a difference of opinion. What happened yesterday isn’t up for debate. It was wrong .” I’m grateful that was the message.

I understand the sentiment but not allowing all viewpoints to be respectfully represented kind of goes against everything I believe as a teacher. I never want to tell a child "Your viewpoint is wrong" no matter how egregious and my teaching is BLACK AF.

But if the view a person is putting forward is "Other people and their views matter less than mine", then respecting that view is inherently devaluing and disrespecting all of the views those other students might put forth. And that's what racism is; you can't respect disrespect
