I say this because the cognitive dissonance astounds me: If you’re saying you denounce what happened to and me, but you also perpetuate a harmful workplace environment for POC/womxn/queer people, then know that we notice.

Lastly, and most importantly, there are people liking, retweeting, and reaching out to me in support of what I’ve done who I also know firsthand - and through other people - have hurt/oppressed other POCs in the workplace.

BdB seems eager to talk about mental health challenges + Carranza taking time to grieve losses. But no one is disputing that Carranza is *actually* resigning because he and the mayor had a major fight over integration and they have barely spoken since

Worth noting that Carranza faced a fair amount of racism over his Mexican-American heritage from his critics. Seems like that's continuing even to his last day

I’ve been slow to jump in on this conversation because I don’t relish an opportunity to talk about the embarrassing and humiliating things that have happened in the workplace, but it’s out in the open now so let me say my piece. 1/?

Black employees use the tools that they can to survive the microaggressions and hidden racism of the workplace. Palatability was how I survived. Cerise chose to speak out. And she should not be silenced for that.

Many of our fellow journalists working in MNG newsrooms across the country have already organized in this way. We at SCNG want to be recognized along with them. We are asking MNG and Alden to recognize our union and to work with us to protect local journalism. 8/9

These cuts leave us less able to provide the quality product we owe our readers. We want to stave off further losses while allowing our newspapers to thrive. We want to build newsrooms with diverse voices reflecting the communities we cover. 6/9

Media News Group and Alden Global Capital have cut our newsrooms to the bone. Layoffs and turnover have devastated our workforce. We face historic staffing shortages, and the exodus of journalists with decades of experience has hollowed out our newspapers. 5/9
