We tracked 63 #penguins from 2 subcolonies @PhillipIslandNP. We identified 11992 prey encounter events & compared their distribution between subcolonies using a randomisation test. We also measured depth of prey encounters & mass gained during foraging trips.pic.twitter.com/KgZCOiCQkT

#WSTC5#ForSesh2 Subcolonies showed a strong#foraging spatial segregation. During chick-rearing,#birds from one subcolony foraged in deeper waters, encountered prey at deeper depths & gained less mass: these#penguins were less successful at foraging.#seabird#ornithologypic.twitter.com/MbSK815IoU

#WSTC5#ForSesh2 Within-colony breeding location may determine the foraging area, promoting different behaviours among conspecifics. Hence, sampling from different subcolonies might be required to capture and understand#foraging behaviour variation within the same colony.pic.twitter.com/m76WJU8H8wPrikaži ovu nit
