When did the Medieval Dark Ages end? For me, it’s 1492 when Columbus discovered that the world was round (despite everybody laughing). This broke the church’s Stranglehold on Science and put the world on the Path to Modernity.https://twitter.com/lisafdavis/status/1032712343602556930 …

"The death of Richard III is considered the end of the medieval era." Actually, I'm pretty sure every medievalist has their own "end of the medieval era." For me - a book historian - it's Gutenberg. OK, #MedievalTwitter, on your mark, get set, GO: https://twitter.com/MedievalArchive/status/1032413070482722817 …

Actually, the Dark Ages ended in 1348, more or less, when the Black Death killed all the clergy and ushered in the Renaissance.

for me it was when Poggio Bracciolini, spaghetti chef to Cosimo de'Medici, saved the last copy of De Rerum Natura from being burned by Pope Boniface III and reintroduced the clinamen to Western cuisine, thus unleashing war, revolution, terror and extremism

Also the idea that there was no science. Of course there was. Mathematics, Navigation, Architecture, the science of glass production, manuscript production (dyes, vellum, gesso, inks and tanning) metallurgy. Science Science Science everywhere.
