We agree with Majority Leader that the separation of powers in state government is critical and cannot be undermined. The Governor must put forth a new Chief Judge nominee with a strong record of defending the rights and liberties of everyday New Yorkers.

Uniquely strong statement from ASC, who calls out Gov. Kathy Hochul’s argument against the Judiciary committee’s decision as “a dangerous infringement,” but does not mention the governor by name.

Proud of all colleagues who have publicly made it clear that they will vote NO on Judge LaSalle’s nomination. People who aren’t values aligned & make that clear through their actions, shouldn’t be supported. It’s not difficult to do the right thing here.

After a careful review of the nominee, I am forced to conclude Judge LaSalle would be regressive on issues impacting women’s rights, labor issues, and climate change. I will be a 'no' on Judge LaSalle. syracuse.com/politics/2022/

Deeply disappointed in the Governor's nomination of someone with a clear anti-union, fundamentally conservative record on the bench to be Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. I'm a hard no on Justice LaSalle's nomination.

Statement from CWA District 1 VP Dennis Trainor on the possible nomination of Justice Hector LaSalle: "CWA, along with many of our union allies, would condemn the appointment of Justice Hector LaSalle to Chief Judge, given his blatant anti-union stance."

Thank you to the 45+ law professors who signed this letter expressing concern about Justice LaSalle's record, and to and for covering it. The letter and the article provide important information about this critical nomination.

We’re with the nurses! Let’s win what we deserve!
Quote Tweet
Approx. 17k NYSNA nurses at 12 NYC private sector hospitals have union contracts expiring on Dec. 31. However, management continues to resist when it comes to safe staffing, fair wages & maintaining quality health benefits. That’s why nurses have begun strike vote authorization.

"New Yorkers have asked for solutions on public safety, not scare tactics. They’re ready to address what’s really driving crime. Ignoring the data gets us nowhere."

“A disastrous, two-tiered criminal justice system took hold: one for the rich, and another for the poor. No New Yorker was any safer for rich people buying their way out, or poor people languishing in jail.” Important & well written piece by @hotroddy95. gothamgazette.com/130-opinion/11

🧵"The big rail carriers have already made it clear that they only care about making massive profits, not the safety & health of workers. Why should #rail execs & members of Congress have paid sick time, but rail workers don’t get a single paid sick day?" - #Teamsters Gen. Pres.
Quote Tweet
Members of Congress have an opportunity to fight for their constituents by making sure rail workers get paid sick days. Any politicians who don’t side with workers need to go on the record that they voted against workers.

This is what happens when you #organize! Congrats to the End Medical Debt Coalition in New York! 🎉🎉🎉 & many more!
Quote Tweet
In New York, health care providers were able to put patients' homes on the line due to their medical debt. With the legislation I signed today, we're putting an end to this harmful practice. No New Yorker should fear losing their home just because they get sick.
