Wait so the ROS will be sold to the US? Seems kinda stupid given that 2 more ROS modules will be docked soon and the plainned de orbit of atleast 1 segment in the comeing weeks I thought the plain was always for the ROS-zvesda to be undocked and become the basis for a new station
-
The new station will be high latitude and the segment cannot be dragged 10 degrees. The Nauka module will be docked to it this year and, together with the Russian part of the station, will be mothballed / de-orbited in 2025.

Although I have biases that should be obvious, I would respectfully phrase it differently. In many ways, the US saved the Russian human space program by providing money and motivation during a dark period in Russian history, but at the high cost dependence inevitably creates.

There are those in the US who have gained. I sometimes refer to the Falcon-9 as the US Soyuz, a super reliable, relatively simple vehicle with highly redundant engines and good for almost any task. Soyuz kept the ISS alive when US screwed up our launch strategy.

So, international co-operation is ending and everybody's going back in time to the old days of Skylab and Mir. What a shame.
-
Yes. US / Russian cooperation is over because the Russians tried and failed to harm the US government. An act of war, in my book. The correct analogy would be Russia is going back to Mir. The US and the free world are going to build 100+ Skylab equivalents.

But will the Russian segment be deorbited or will it remain attached to the ISS after 2025, if Nasa and ESA decide to extend operation to 2030?
-
It will be decided by both sides as we approach this date. Rogozin admitted the possibility of transferring(the Nauka module, which we have been building for 30 years, we will give you as a bonus);NASA is considering the possibility of disconnecting old Russian modules. We will see
