Not surprised at all that "incel" was originally coined by a woman to describe her own experience. It seems like misogynist male incels have allowed themselves to be trapped in attractiveness hierarchies, a mental prison. Why not meet a nice female incel?https://splinternews.com/unfuckable-women-dont-go-on-killing-sprees-1825746733 …
I'm not sure the incel argument is inherently misogynistic. They are turning to misogyny because there's no coherent explanation on the left. Maybe an easier way to think about it is female incels. Wouldn't we normally sympathize?https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/02/opinion/incels-sex-robots-redistribution.html …

You gotta visit one of the forums to understand the misogyny. It’s not that celibacy is misogynistic—rather, the belief that men are owed sex from women and men can collectively fantasize about physically harming women who refuse them is misogyny.
-
I can imagine, resentment and an incel echo chamber online. It's just that arguments have to be separated from the socialized misogyny. A sexual order with privileged wealthy white males at the top of the hierarchy is not my first thought for a leftist posture.
-
That’s so not what incels are protesting against. I’m a big fan of the
@okcupid reports about racial bias in dating—but we don’t have any evidence to suggest that incels are not white and affluent. Also, there are better ways to respond to rejection. incels aren’t victims -
Men can support each other emotionally through rejection without drinking the kool-aid of self-victimization.
-
It's a mistake to focus on them and their misogynistic response. Because of the taint of how these questions arose, people seem uncomfortable digging deeper. Which is usually my cue to jump in :) As I said in my original post, examine a sexual order that creates female incels.
-
I think the concept of “woman incel”—as we currently understand the definition of “incel”—is incoherent. I agree that norms around sexuality question the personal value of those who have reduced access to sex, but don’t agree that a “root cause” analysis justifies incel behavior.
-
Well and that's the discomfort that I'm talking about. No one wants to confirm the existence of something that incels will use to justify misogyny. Just winging this topic, but I thought it's involuntarily celibate. Plenty of those women too, no?
-
Involuntary celibacy itself is also incoherent.https://twitter.com/mountain_goats/status/989297058782830593?s=21 …

Go read Rodger's manifesto My Twisted World - if self-pitying autobiographies needed a reference manual, it would qualify

I'm not getting any love for my transgressive take today, I see. Still would love to hear any on point responses on structures that produce lonely women.
-
Are there forums of such women plotting murderous rampages or bashing attractive males for not wanting to fuck them?
-
That actually proves the point that I was making. The misogyny is separate, it's not inherent to what is being said.
-
Hardly. I don't claim to know what went wrong with these men but they're misogynists to the core. They are NOT interested in women, beyond lusting after their bodies or the status boost they think will be theirs from having the right kind of arm candy
