I am not condoning this data selling but this goes far beyond just Facebook. I did a google search on something the other day & suddenly all the advertisements I am seeing are Amazon attempting to sell me that same item. It has happened with movies, products. Where does it end?
-
Well the biggest mistake you made there was not installing Add Block Plus...
-
I have add block. The other day i was googling after pc components and all of a suden my facebook was full with adds of pc sites who were selling exactly what i googled after..
-
Me too. I had to check it because I thought it was not on my phone anymore. It was but still my FB feed had ads from something obscure I had looked at a few hours earlier.
-
The creepiest thing was, I was showing a picture of newly launch shoes to my friend ( that I got from my brother through WhatsApp) The next moment I could see the ads for same brand, same shoes on Facebook. I didn't even typed or searched in Google
-
That is because FB owns WhatsApp, Instagram, etc. Many tech companies share info on tracking, etc.
-
Credit bureau been doing this same thing for a long time. Now offering services of stitching credit card data to individuals and reselling along with other third party data. Surprised at how don’t realize that everything we do is tracked and will only continue without legislation

If Facebook is a problem what about Google?
-
Hell, what about all of them?
-
Think about google, Facebook.etc when you listen to this joke about the KGB at min. 7:30https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRiORMRMGCk&feature=youtu.be …

Very appropriate and accurate parable for the times we live in and the threats we all face ...many without any knowledge or understanding of how dire they are. Thank you for sharing this!

The only positive thing about all this Facebook drama is that we can get a sequel of The Social Network. Please make it happen Mark (self destruct a bit more, please).
@sonypicsprodns -
What sequel?
-
Sequel of The Social Network (2010) movie. Google it. David Fincher, Aaron Sorkin and Jesse Eisenberg getting together again.

Think I won't be able to sleep now. -
Looool ohhh
no...
So the sequel is how unethical it is? -
Yep. Set to be released in 2020.
-
-
Link doesn't work.
-
Type it into your browser, because Twitter doesn't hyperlink it! Please and thanks :) Regardless, I'm trying to get enough self funding this month (april) to do groups and pages!! Stay tuned for all I am thinking by summer to be "good enough"
