Here's the (new) report describing how NSA is laying the groundwork to track people down through the microphones around us every day (your phone calls, a friend's laptop, the phone next to you on the train, that Amazon Echo on the shelf...): https://theintercept.com/2018/01/19/voice-recognition-technology-nsa/ …https://twitter.com/JakeLaperruque/status/954403265747259393 …

Remember that scene in The Dark Knight where Batman makes a hyberbolic crazy surveillance system that uses all phones to find the Joker based on his voice? That could actually happen 5/10 pic.twitter.com/JSQMmzEQO6

I'm actually okay with this. If you have nothing to hide, then the government doesn't care about you. The government only cares about you if you're a criminal. We should be more worried about corporations using our information against us.

That's kinda not the point, privacy should be your right. Government being able to spy on anyone at any time is a pretty unnerving idea. Would it be ok for police or FBI to randomly come in and search your home if you have nothing to hide?

Absolutely. I would be completely okay with that. If I have nothing to hide, I would not be worried about that in the slightest. And if they find something I did wrong, I would gladly correct it.

So your ok with the government entering anyone's home at anytime to make sure your not a criminal, and you justification for that is because you have nothing to hide? Wow

I think you guys take it too seriously. That's all. Every century has had it's "bugs". Nowadays people have more things to hide or be ashamed of. And yes, I know everyone has secrets. Peace

People that don't care about privacy are people who aren't all that intelligent. Why not install a glass walled shower in the front yard so everyone can see you if you have nothing to hide? What!? This is stupid logic. Just stupid.

Are not intelligent?! Geee', than you must have glass walls all over your place ... why is everyone coming up with the shower/bathroom example. There must be some scary childhood memories lol just grow up, that's all.

I figured they already did this. I'm outraged by it, of course; when I was in the Army in the 80s, they told us this was how the Soviets treated their people & we needed to fight this authoritarian ideology. But today's average American doesn't seem to mind it.

Then they need to move to a country like North Korea and free up more space for those of us who value privacy & the last of our freedoms
