iPhone users can use Haven today, to receive secure notifications from Haven running on a second, inexpensive Android "burner". Install and setup Signal app @whispersystems and Onion Browser to remotely access notifications and logs from your iOS device.

I use CopperheadOS with orbot vpn and I never use the insecure phone bb, always airplane mode with wifi and portable router(s) depending where I go. Easy for "normal" people too, you have to educate them a bit, that is all

Cellular baseband isn't necessarily less secure than WiFi even though the protocols are more complex. The main issue is that unlike WiFi it can't be used without uniquely identifying the device.

IMHO I can recommend not use a phone with bb and GPS. Works for me. You can reach me via Signal/VOIP if my device is attached to wifi. GPS is pluggable. I was too long an android core dev. I tell you all available hw is full of proprietary blobs because of the baseband ;)
