Skeptical? Here's what GCHQ said in top secret documents: [secrecy is required because...] "agency practices (ie the scale of interception and deletion) could lead to damaging public debate which might lead to legal challenges against the current regime."https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/oct/25/leaked-memos-gchq-mass-surveillance-secret-snowden …

So why are they storing all this data, aside from discrediting & blackmailing any who oppose them? Well, when you need to create a realistic artificial environment, b/c you destroyed the last real one, metadata comes in handy. Like a game *save point
*shrug. I could be wrong -
to target dissidents. to make ppl afraid to speak truth to power. to blackmail those not going along with plans. to give to law enforcement to try and find all kinds of ways to throw their citizens in jail... all kinds of good reasons

You can't keep transferring the collective wealth from the bottom to the top, and not constantly monitor the bottom for signs of revolt to squash.

if people do not stop the overreach there will be NO CHANCE in the future. There will only be MORE technology built to control the masses, drones, everything. We are at a SERIOUS crossroads.

Not sure if you saw it, but my research on how mass surveillance impacted Wikipedia use (covered by
@washingtonpost,@ggreenwald,@Reuters among others) was cited by Wikimedia in its recent successful appeal before the Fourth Circuit in Wikimedia v NSA:https://theintercept.com/2016/04/28/new-study-shows-mass-surveillance-breeds-meekness-fear-and-self-censorship/ … -
I didn't see that. Very impressive.

then WHY do western democracies do it? Are they afraid of the people? I really don’t get WHY they are implementing it??
-
There is no "Western Democracy". UK officially monarchy. Australia Canada etc officially under Crown too. US=biggest financial exploitation, R&D and military outpost of Brit monarchy for NWO, with plausible deniability. And now most democracies EVM rigged.https://twitter.com/JMoVS/status/941792843437285376 …

They are using surveillance system to abuse people with HAARP Electromagnetic Frequency. I was attacked by US Military in 2013 & indoctrinated me in Terrorism. They keep 24/7 surveillance on me for non consensual mind control experiments with HAARP Electromagnetic Frequencies
-
Im sorry, what?
-
US agencies are collecting data through Surveillance for mind control and no consensual human experiments. In my case US Military was actually engineering Terrorism, to frame Zimbabwe of Islamic Terrorism & to invade for Strategic Minerals. US Military is engineering Terrorism

Plus, the real point here is that mass surveillance doesn't make us safer. It's part of the security theater.

What’s unconstitutional is the gross mishandling of public resources on something stupid like this. All the veterans o the streets and with medical problems and government speeding all that money on finding a needle in a hay stack.
-
You misunderstand the purpose. It isn't to find a needle in a hay stack. It's to control the population. "Finding a needle in a haystack" is how it's sold to the public.
