Governments increasingly claim companies have "a legal duty to allow for secret surveillance." Such policies mark a new wave of illiberal thinking even in places like Germany; one that sees no private companies, only potential deputies.https://www.thelocal.de/20171201/german-government-wants-backdoor-access-to-every-digital-device-report …

Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say. Edward Snowden 😃Thank you for your strength, Mr Snowden

Freedom is not high on the agenda for most governments these days. Sad.

It's not on the agenda, fullstop. Authoritarianism and control is on the agenda, nothing else.

Big Brother doesn't need to install devices, only to mandate access to the ones we're gladly installing ourselves.

In the same way...Government's don't need to store data about people...give the people #facebook and people will supply the information and pay you for the "privilege".

We are moving blindly to a #totalitarian society, where "Big Brother' #Government intrudes, spies, on EVERY aspect of life! WHY does no one scream? Do you REALLY trust politicians that much? Things become illegal, you become a criminal, at the stroke of a pen in a distant office.

nah the question is, did you forget the GDR (East Germany)? Germany has more than one shit era to offer and that would be a more obvious comparison
