Maddow's lawyerly defense of why her implication was wrong is disappointing. Such caution should come prior to raising alarm on national TV.https://twitter.com/brianbeutler/status/883388968175140864 …

That is the twilight of an age.

Indeed it is! Come home soon and safe friend

JFC Snowden! Maddow reported the document was a bad forgery to discredit the media, & to prove collusion. She didnt criticize The Intercept
-
That is her theory. There's no evidence to prove that.
@ggreenwald is making the claim the doc was taken from the Intercept and forged and -
was then altered by the forger, and ultimately published or reported on by Maddow. Which seems WAY more likely than her conspiracy theory.
-
It seems her stupid website she released to the public for possible leakers (trying to be like Wikileaks) backfired bigly in her face.

-
Maddows site didnt backfire. She merely reported that "somone" forged names into new fake docs using what Winner already leaked to Intercept
-
Doesn't that render the bit she did on it pointless? And then she concocts a conspiracy theory out of it?

Many believe the truth is "whatever the news says that confirms things I already believe are true"

Confirmation Bias.

That's one part, but we seem to have forgot the most important skill: critical thinking. If we can't analyze data nothing else matters...
-
We haven't forgotten. Many never trained. It is not core in many primary or secondary education systems.
-
And that's a massive issue within the US Educational system. We train for tests, overwhelm them w/hw, teach regurgitation of facts...
-
Sure, regurgitate facts, except where they once learned all the state capitals, now they learn why state capitals often aren't the big city
-
Sounds like you are reguritating facts without cheking to see if the source is correct. Cause you're human, and humans make cognitive errors
-
Except journalists ARE trained to not make those errors, espeially when it comes to fact checking...
-
Journalists are trained to fact check & newspapers have full time fact checkers. Errors happen. A good journalist owns an error & fixes it.
