If NSA builds a weapon to attack Windows XP—which Microsoft refuses to patches—and it falls into enemy hands, should NSA write a patch?https://twitter.com/AlexanderAbdo/status/863115958101172226 …

Also, perhaps NSA should do more than just *disclose* vulnerabilities in critical systems. For serious vulns, maybe it should help patch?

They don't release patches for outdated software. XP is ancient history in the OS world.

Microsoft is keeping POSReady versions of XP updated until 2019. You can even alter your home XP computer to continue to safely use XP

What he said. For businesses, it's not easy to just upgrade. I'm sure many would use XP forever if they could, it serves its basic purpose.

Then yes, if you can't afford to upgrade, then you're taking on a security risk. Securing legacy software takes resources and doesn't make $
