We’ll always send a notification to subscribers who have opted in (rung the bell)! Subs can change their settings here: http://goo.gl/XLDtz4 . In the past, some viewers were frustrated with how many notifications they received so we added the bell to give viewers the option.

But how do you get old subscribers to even know to ring the bell if they don't get your notifications for your videos anymore in the first place.

I like the idea of the bell to get notifications from some channels that I watch regularly and not getting notifications from some other channels

I get that the Bell notification is good for videos that you absolutely want to make sure you don't miss but the fact that videos don't show up in the subscription box if you haven't watched a channel for a while is a very scary thing.

@YouTube Nobody likes the bell, you're making things worse, not better. Please listen to your creators for ONCE. All we want is our videos to be seen by people who subscribe, that's not so much to ask for. - 4 more replies

As a subscriber I've never hit the bell on anyone's channel and I always get notified. I never understood why creators say hit the bell.
