Star Wars: Pew Pew! "These faceless stormtroopers are hired goons and space nazis! Shoot em!" Pew Pew! Rise of the Skywalker: Pew Pew! "These are literal child slaves!" *keeps firing joyfully for some reason*

Yes. Especially since it goes from "i have moral issues with slaughtering people" to "lasers are fun!" within Minutes
-
It's a bit different when they are shooting at you. It's like The Masacre at Wounded Knee (129 years ago yesterday, where US soldiers slaughtered woman and children) is different to say The Battle of the Bulge!

He added ANOTHER “awakened” storm trooper and made their situation even more explicit just to … kill the rest of them and set up a Lando father-daughter Disney Plüs series?

For example, if he's a stormtrooper how is he suddenly able to hit his targets?

Especially since what led him to defect was...watching his stormtrooper friend die
-
Yeah. In TFA it seemed alright since he was mostly just trying to gtfo for most of the movie and the only time he actively chose to be fighting stormtroopers he still mostly just went after his former Bad Boss. But I was pretty disappointed TLJ didn’t go further with it.
