Well, put it this way. The chip manufacturers pay for over $160 of the price of MiSTer's DE10-Nano already, not including production. So it's not like a rich/poor thing here I'm afraid, it's just the cost of materials.

I think folks are just concerned about hardware obsolescence before buying into the MiSTer ecosystem, just as I was when I was a MiSTer noob.

I see more and more companies/projects wanting to suck from mister their achievements, I hope that the community will remain strong in the mister

Ha, well OSSC Pro and MiSTer are on the same team. This is just a matter of Marqs realizing he has everything needed to runs cores, so you might as well include the game ports. It's all open-source, so no one is stepping on anyone's toes.

I'm honestly more excited about the opposite, the possibility of using my de10 nano as an ossc pro with a relatively cheap add on board... I'm just waiting for confirmation that this can be done whilst simultaneously still having it work as a functional MiSTer
-
It would be a different “hat.” MiSTer uses all the available pins on de10-nano for things like ram and the io board. So if you wanted something different out of it, there would be opportunity costs. (But the board is cheap enough that I think a second one isn’t unreasonable.)

Somehow there are anti-MiSTer people. Maybe they just don’t like not being early or they didn’t like some individual who liked MiSTer or like me they just hate the name. They don’t appreciate that MiSTer is just framework using a dev board and ram for open source cores.
-
Better to ignore those people. They are probably happy with their raspberry Pi's and don't see the point. MiSTer is still new, relatively speaking, but it's growing so there is no point getting into an argument with the "anti-mister" crowd.

SM I'm confused by your post, won't the OSSCP have all the capabilities of a stand alone MiSTer? Not that it won't make it obsolete, but perhaps purchasing an OSSCP will negate the need for a separate MiSTer? (just asking, not stating)
