Israel extended the jailing of a Palestinian who went on hunger strike for 172 days. It canceled a deal to release him, claiming he used a phone in a prison clinic. Khalil Awawdeh is one of 740+ Palestinians held in Israel's jails without charges ("administrative detention").

1. “Our data show that the protection of 80% of the Amazon is necessary and possible, but above all, urgent. If the current trend of deforestation continues, the Amazon as we know it today would not reach 2025,” says the RAISG’s report..

The Brazilian Amazon, containing 40% of Earth’s tropical forests, has passed the tipping point. Unless the role of Indigenous peoples and territories in preserving the most sensitive ecosystems on the planet is recognised in the next 24 months, we may anticipate total collapse.🧵
