We are keen to demonstrate that our model is something that is replicable if desired, that you can have abundant food and wildlife from challenging ground. We are not saying it is quick or easy at all, but we definitely believe it works. (2/5)

#crofting typically equates to small pockets of challenging land in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. There are over 19,000 crofts, many with already abundant wildlife that needs to be protected, and those nature-friendly crofters need support to do that. (3/5)Show this thread -
However many Crofts lay abandoned, or massively under-utilised. This isn’t for the lack of folk willing to take them on or live up here, quite the opposite. The rules of tenure are there to protect crofters, but they also stop or slow down their supply to new entrants (4/5)

Lack of availability of Crofts, and high demand for housing supply from locals and incomers alike mean many Crofts are snapped at high prices, pricing out young folk keen to actually work the land. At the moment is leading to higher abandonment - we must be positive though!(5/5)
