Wanted to revisit this question. If it were to reach a level you would consider harassment, and it were calling them virgin, incel etc. Would the virgin shaming aspect put that in the category of sexual harassment.

yes in this instance. but i would need context to make the call if it is or not. Incel's have wayyyyyyyy more problems that have nothing to do with being a virgin tho lol

I'm looking for a more over all principle to apply. On one hand I think sexual harassment is typically about harassing someone to have sex. But I can also see harassing someone about "inadequacy" as sexual harassment. To me harassing isn't one off comments or picking on someone

It's more about, a pernicious on going behavior. Where as a women might not be bugged as much by virgin shaming but more so by advancements. The reverse would be true for a guy I think.

i dont think it matters your gender. that would effect if it is or is not. for me just is it persistent behavior...context.

No, the gender wouldn't affect whether or not it is shaming. But the digs you would use on a man and a women would be different I think, because they are not similarly situated in a lot of ways. Feel free to disagree here, but I think dating is much harsher on men.

i disagree young girls are often pressured to loose their V cards(usually by friends)...at the same time if they sleep around too much its slutty. i do disagree... not harsher but different problems. men face just different problems then women face.

I think when it comes to dating, the entire thing. The expectations that are put on men are much higher. Make the moves, take all the risks of rejection, pay for dinner. Plus, and my girlfriend will attest to this part. It's much easier to get a data as a girl.

https://youtu.be/Ip7kP_dd6LU  For instance. Take Norah Vincent's experiences of how she was treated when she was a man. The initial reaction she got from those women. When one found out she was a women she apologized for her behavior.

If slut shaming harassment is sexual harassment, obviously virgin shaming harassment would be sexual harassment. This is genderless, btw.

I don't think virgin shaming or slut shaming are genderless. It's akin to slut shaming. But they are very gendered. However slut shaming is mainly done to women by women. Where as the majority of virgin shaming i see is by or on women's behalf. Guys not performing for women.

And you bring up a very interesting point. They differ greatly when you consider that slut shaming is in a competitive woman's best interest. Virgin shaming is in direct opposition to a competitive man's interest. No benefit for a man to encourage another man to compete with him.

This is actually a mystery to me. Virgin shaming doesn't seem to be in the best interest of a woman either. Why would a woman want to encourage men to be more promiscuous, thus increasing the possibly of having to divert his responsibility among multiple women and their children?

Because men need to compete for women, men are supposed to strive for status to prove themselves to women. They know men try hard to please women. Also, because they understand the power of influence their vagina has. They admit to it when they engage in virgin shaming.

Women are the selector sex, men are the competitor sex. But what are men competing for? The approval of women, if you can't prove yourself as a man you are considered a failure as a man. Men who say fuck that, well, our line isn't as successful as the ones engaging in it.

I wouldn't really say so. I think sexual harassment needs to be more direct in the sexual nature, making inappropriate comments repeatedly. Slut/incel/virgin is just an arbitrary subject for mocking/insulting people.

It's stated that is to the point to already be harassment. So to me, talking about someone's supposed virginity would be sexual harassment.

That is, the threshold of harassment has already been meet. The virginity aspect would be of a pretty direct sexual nature to me.
