What is really happening is that individuals are donating to individual DAFs and directing Fidelity's DAF admin to make donations to hate groups (which are organized as charities) and Fidelity simply does it. Then in tax filings, the donor is listed as Fidelity.

Came here to say this. So the question becomes whether a manager like Fidelity or Schwab should police disbursement in some way (other than what is required by law). That's the discussion that should be held, and what this article should have focused on.

Well except “Fidelity” management isn’t making these gifts, individual investors are. It’s a Donor Advised Fund not a corporate philanthropy.

Not quite. FC legally owns the money once it's in the individuals' accounts and has total discretion about where it goes. The donors "advise" FC.
