It's easy to understand how hard it is to monitor every single user on such gigantic platform, even when it comes to «the cream of the crop». It's even easier to understand why famous news channels avoid talking about controversy «outside of video world».
Hi @TeamYouTube, it's me, your regular visitor. I've been watching @YouTube since I was 14, and I always considered this platform a safe space, at least from my experience on it. However, nowadays the genre «exposed» is flourishing, so does the amount of questionable creators.

No one wants to suffer in real life because of it, even with the word «accusations» mentioned all around. But there are still problematic creators with controversies outside of your platform. Problematic to the point of being a danger to their viewers, a «bad influence».

And it's understandable that terminating their channels can be an issue if their content doesn't violate any of your rules and, basically, their activities outside of YT are a «different thing».

But when Twitter is filled with accusations of predatory behaviour, with actual victims speaking up – shouldn't there be at least an alert, a pop-up that suggests a viewer to know who are they dealing with?

Videos about sensitive topics ask you for age verification, but some of them still have disturbing, potentially triggering thumbnails. Creators abuse profanity and provocative words in the titles just for the sake of views – and they are being promoted.

But I don't want to get to far from the point. Some creators are notably «famous» for being accused of things that are disgusting and traumatic – and when the hype dies, no one really cares that much afterwards, there social status continues to grow.

But you should care for the safety of the viewer. For their knowledge of the person they are watching, they are connecting with, because it happens on your platform, and you are the «home» for the one who can potentially have malicious intentions.

With smaller channels it's harder, and I'm no genius to figure out the way to change things, to protect everybody. But don't pretend like you're unaware of what's going on with big figures, with tweets and videos from your viewers telling that this person it *allegedly* bad.

I want to thank channels like
@zillarage@MsBlaireWhite@ReadytoglareYT for shining at least some light on important topics which can change your mind about watching a new channel that looks wholesome at the front, as they all do.Show this thread -
Creators protect from creators, yet no one wins and demonitisation shuts the truth up while pending to the questionable personalities. When there is an outrage of people begging «get this person away from this platform», what are the odds that it's all a well-planned circus play?

Protect your viewers,
@YTCreators. And if you can't speak up about allegations, at least allow your creators to do it freely, because it's their reputation on the display when they speak up about alleged situations, it's them risking, yet helping viewers in making wise choices...Show this thread -
... of whom to support and whom to avoid. YT personalities are still people, and their facade should not be the thing covering their nature.

I hope to see this platform as a safe space it once was to me, when I was a kid with constant fear of death on antidepressants. You can get better, YT. Just don't give checkmarks to the people whose victims speak publicly and whose actions hurt young and vulnerable minds.
