Sleep field is wild man! Should open some interesting debates. I would think humans sleep would be better modeled by rats than flies, but obviously neither sufficient, and u were right that there is a lot going on in FFI. A lot of work to be done...

I think I should note that I got too caught up in defending the "lack of sleep doesn't directly kill" but originally i was just saying that FFI is a really bad example to use that lack of sleep kills... i do deserve this tho bc preview on the link does state this w/out context

One thing I don't think Matt highlighted is that sleep amt in humans is normally distributed so some ppl need 4hrs and some ppl need 12 for optimal functioning, but the vast majority is 8. So if you are a person that functions great after 4 or 5 hours of sleep, that could be ur #
