Blindly believing that freedom will solve everything isn't realistic. Some form of surveillance and control has to be applied by the state for the benefit of the civilized collective. I commend Snowden for exposing unknown government practises and potential corruption though.

Snowden isn't a libertarian ideologue by any means - he was a patriot totally on board with the appropriate use of state power.
