    as is worth repeating: women's and mixed-gender teams already play in the main esports circuit like in Valorant. creating new opportunities grows the esports community and does not diminish the top competition. those who have issues with this are just showing their own insecurity

    My long response that I posted on reddit but wanted to chime in here too... Also to note, this will literally have NO negative impact on the lives of the people that can't stand the idea of women's events so they need to calm the heck down. Simply put, they don't have to watch.

    I agree. There are tons of women who are more comfortable playing with/ against other women, I've seen it first hand when I co-created years ago. More esports opportunities for women would be very fun, and also encourage more girls to hop in the main scene

    I created women's only leagues for Siege in North America and Europe totalling over 100 women. I told them it was to force them to try comp and have no excuses. Now one of them is a semi professional player in the North American League. Not everyone has the same proving grounds.

    I do think the event is doing a great job in brining chess to more people, I'd never stoop as low as to watch it myself though. If I did watch, I'd probably be rooting for Ludwig
