If you change a long-running feature provided an advance option to revert it.
Revert the / feature & move the search shortcuts to a button. The / is a SHORTCUT so it's supposed to be FAST, & you made it very slow and painful.

We're hoping to get the shortcuts menu to be just as quick, if not quicker for you. Is it slower performance-wise? Or workflow-wise?

Its a slower performance & workflow. I mean I cld just type the shortcut & then keep typing the required magic after & poof it just worked. Having to go through the UI is clunky. Remember you have users who like CLI's & your shortcuts where CLI like and should remain so,

If you want NEW FUNCTIONALITY for the shortcuts great just don't replace existing functionality. If people have issues with shortcut discovery then help them discover the lighting button that is the shortcut search. Don't change the way the existing / functionality works.
