I think @SlackHQ should provide a choice of whether to keep one thread or make a new thread on first reply to a post pasted in from another channel
We appreciate the feedback @fredsters_s! You're right -- if a message gets shared to another channel, a new thread can be started there. This is expected behaviour, but we'll share your thoughts with the team for consideration

yeah, when it’s a “cross post” of the original post and the team heavily uses threads, you get duplicate threads that are confusing
