Have lost count the number of times a day I incorrectly hit command- K to link text within @SlackHQ message ... and then realize it’s a different shortcut for quick search 
Totally useful shortcut in general, but extremely frustrating that it’s vs the standard for linking text

Yep so the link format option works for just that. But there’s no keyboard shortcut for it... And keep mistakenly using command-k instead , since that’s the shortcut on other platforms for that action.
could try to learn a new one if it existed. Or better yet, continue with universal usage of command-k and make quick search something else

It doesn’t seem to be noted in the shortcuts help center page, but a colleague told me that command + shift U should do the trick... confirming it does! Still confusing as all other apps use command-k for the same action but at least something exists !

Ah we get what you mean! Cmd+K has been the shortcut that we used for our quick switcher for a long time, while hyperlinking in Slack is relatively recent.
