Slack at scale is a really bad manifestation of FOMO & clutter. So many channels. If you ever get added to or participate in a channel, an explicit step is required to leave it. And there is nothing that you can train it to surface what’s most important.

We are now trying custom sections. But that also feels just ok, because a) it’s a personal organization mechanism and b) a lot of work for each user. And so it doesn’t scale well to a team of 1,000 plus people

A follow up on "sections" — It has helped, and I wish it was made in such a way that sections are global (everyone sees them once created) and channels can go in them by default. Like how workspaces are today, but within a single workspace. Happy to talk more with
