Sorry you're not enjoying the new icons and avatars! These sidebar changes can't be turned off for now, but we appreciate this feedback, and we'll make a note that you'd like to see the option to toggle them off.

+1 It's much harder to see online status at a glance and the photos just add noise. It was nice and clean before.

Any update on an option to disable this feature? After more than 2 weeks of having it, I still find it harder to spot whose online or not.
