Hey Laszlo! Hmm, what are you seeing in the tab when someone sends a message in a channel? What notification settings do you have for that channel? To check this, open the channel and click the i > More > Change notifications.

Hey! Now just the default favicon there, but in the past if someone wrote to a channel (without a mention) the favicon got a white glowing area or there were a little * near the icon.

It's looks like works sometimes, if I hit a reload, but it worked automatically yesterday. So if I watched ex. the twitter tab, I saw if someone post in a channel.pic.twitter.com/E1eZbHLCvu

If you use light mode or your active tab has a white background, you're right, it's impossible to tell you have unread non-mention/DM messages. We're working to change this! Thanks for hanging tight.
