When I got my ASUS NovaGo from last years Build conference, I was amazed with the work that was done to make an ARM64 Windows 10 that I could use like my other computers. I could run .NET Core binaries, run WSL, hell even Visual Studio (expect suffering with NuGet and npm lol)

But one of the biggest things was the fact that I could easily compile something for ARM64 with little to no modification. Comparing the responsiveness to an emulated x86 app.. I saw that promise.

Its why I suffered through compiling Chromium for ARM64 then showed it off (big thanks to the team at Microsoft who put in the effort to get ARM64 supported , seriously thank you!). I wanted to show others how nice the apps that cast curses upon memory utilization could run.

I mean, even Electron supports ARM64 Windows now. My point is that ARM64 should be a default choice & promoted as such. Not another, "Hey. Here's 1 ARM64 app. The rest is x64, sorry lol". The Pro X is my FIRST Surface device. I'm in this. I need the heavy hitters to be also.

Does that mean Slack is running natively on ARM?

I don't think so. They would have to target ARM64 while building for Electron. They don't explicitly state that they've included support for it in the Slack app.
@SlackHQ - Are there any plans to support a Windows on ARM version of Slack since Electron supports it?2 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 2 polubione -

Thanks for asking! ARM support is definitely on our radar, but unfortunately for this minute of this particular day, we don't have a timeline to share. Stay tuned!

Hi, just want to follow up on this. I'm on a 64bit ARM laptop (arch, not Windows) but would very much love a standalone app instead of having to open seven browser tabs just to have access to all of my communities.

Hi again ^_^. Any update on this?
@MicrosoftTeams released ARM64 support. Y'all are the last ones left :). If there's any testing needed, I'd be more than happy to help.1 odpowiedź 0 podanych dalej 1 polubiony
Still nope! Sorry about that. We'll give our team another nudge that folks are asking for this.
