@SlackHQ Did you just change the sidebar to show avatars for all the DMs?
How can I turn that off and go back to the clean uncluttered look?

Ok, so let me explain why I don't like them: - They don't solve a problem. Names are in alphabetical order, so easy to find - They add visual clutter; it's like confetti beside the names - They actually make it harder to see when someone is online

One note, to make a more visual impact on seeing who is online you can create a custom theme in Slack and select a louder/brighter colour for the active presence.
