.@SlackHQ Hey I love the product but, how to get those images and channel/group highlights off from the sidebar? They're magnetic elements, drawing attention to the sidebar which is the least important place to be looking at when trying to focus. Perhaps a setting for it, please?

It's not possible to remove these from the sidebar at this time, however we are collecting feedback on the new design and will be looking to make improvements in the near future accordingly. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Thanks! My workaround is now to always scroll up the sidebar so that the pictures won’t fit the screen. It’s an extra step but one worth taking.

Agreed, it would be great to have the option to remove these in settings! For a visual person, it's a lot to look at.

It’s like a banner ad telling your brain ”look at all these beautiful faces”. Takes cognitive effort to ignore. Slack chat works well because it’s clean, fast & space-efficient. Teams may look great in mockups but I haven’t heard praises about chat from former Slack power users.
