@SlackHQ When someone shares a file with me, I can't download the file — I just get the option to retry the download over and over, but it never works. How can I fix this?

Oh no! Is this happening on the desktop app, in a web browser, or when using one of the mobile apps?

Are you noticing it happen when connected to a particular WiFi network, or is it occurring over cellular data as well?

So it's only on my computer. My iPhone downloads files just fine on the same WiFi network that my computer is on, and it downloads fine on a cellular network.

Can we ask if your download location is set to something other than the default "Downloads" folder? We unfortunately have a known issue where changing that location can prevent downloads from completing.

Hey Slack, This works great, but I always have to copy the files over to the correct location. Can't I get slack to always ask me where to download to?pic.twitter.com/0Rcp3Gg7dc

This is the thing preventing me from using the desktop app. As a workaround I was able to 'Install' the web app. It gets its own icon on my start menu (kind of), opens in its own window and works well enough. Being essentially google chrome it lets you select where files download

It's been a little bit since the referenced Tweet but in the meantime we've created a setting to "Choose location for each download" in the desktop app. Give it a go if you like!
