If you paste the URL into a browser tab, does it not attempt to redirect you into the app? Usually you'd see something like this. But we might be misunderstanding your question.

Ahhh. No I don’t get that, it just asks me to log in, or opens the web version of slack. Can I change something to get the prompt? Log out? Change setting?

Hi Harry! After you log in, you should be able to paste it in the address bar of a new tab in the same session to get the redirect, if it's the same sort of link we're thinking of. If you'd like to DM us the specific link, that could help us dig in on this for you.
