I will summarize is in one simple: stop blocking people based in the operating system the user agent. THIS IS THE WEB. That should be all. As to why it was like that is an unrelated story.

and this should be enough for your product manager / engineering to understand. the excuse is sniffing for the operating system in the web app is bogus.
