@SlackHQ is there an easier way to initiate a video call to a new group direct message other than typing text to activate the group and call icon?
Interesting use case! You are indeed correct that there isn't a way to call a group DM with the conversation first existing in text form first. Do you find yourself initiating Slack calls in this way often?

I find myself trying to call certain group of people and sometimes that group has been relegated off screen due to inactivity or non-existence. So I search or create a group and usually type “Hi” or “.” to start the conversation.
