aws went down yesterday. 60% of ethereum nodes run on aws. permissionless environments sound good until you realize they reflect the biases of the environments that produced them. that's the irony: in nodes and DAOs alike, we need permissioning to attain true decentralization.

2/3 it is OUR job to make sure there are alternative back ups to access the back-ends. that's something that's easy to do, requires little coordination, and doesn't need cooperation from Aave. e.g. @SkynetLabs did work on this with Homescreen blog.sia.tech/1inch-integrat

It is now the case that every Skynet function on our portals has a trustless endpoint. Trustless registry access, trustless uploads and downloads, even large files are supported trustlessly. I believe we are the only web3 platform that has achieved this.

Decentralization is a means, not an end. Safety is the goal, and decentralization is often an effective strategy to achieving that goal. This is one of the counterintuitive things about PoW. Incentives keep you safe even when your hashrate is centralized.
