2/3 it is OUR job to make sure there are alternative back ups to access the back-ends. that's something that's easy to do, requires little coordination, and doesn't need cooperation from Aave.

I’ve gained so much from working at skynet labs - from amazing bonds and memories with the best co-workers to a greater understanding and conviction in decentralization.
While today is a sad day, I still deeply believe in the decentralized web and look forward to what’s ahead

It is now the case that every Skynet function on our portals has a trustless endpoint. Trustless registry access, trustless uploads and downloads, even large files are supported trustlessly.

Decentralization is a means, not an end. Safety is the goal, and decentralization is often an effective strategy to achieving that goal.
This is one of the counterintuitive things about PoW. Incentives keep you safe even when your hashrate is centralized.
