Homophobia in the Queer Community seems rampant right now. This too shall pass (I hope). It is human nature to try to get to the starting line by crawling on the backs of those who have almost made it there, pushing them down in the process.

It is a myth that homophobia comes from the religious right and from people in rural areas who have never met a gay person. I've experienced more anti-gay sentiments freely expressed from this community as much as any other in the last few years.

I believe everyone has the right to be whomever and whatever they are, and that we can label ourselves however we want. That, however, does not mean conversations must stop and critical thinking be placed on hold.
