London crime: Are the Tory government to blame for rising crime by cutting police funding?
-
-
-
How are people voting “no”? Less money = less police = less opportunity for prevention/punishment.
-
Sorry, couldn’t resist the correction, it’s a bugger being a pedant

-
Heh. It’s a condition, isn’t it?

-
It can be irritating, that’s true <scratches wildly>
-
No worries on my account. I prefer to be educated rather than be left ignorant.

A protest by a racist group which will probably end up with some 'protesters' engaging in violent crime. Surely the protest should be aimed at Theresa May and the Tory government for cutting Police numbers.
-
1. What evidence do you have that the group is 'racist'? 2. What evidence do you have that the protestors will end up engaging in violent crime? 3. If the violent crime rise is exclusively the fault of the Tories, what's the point of Sadiq Khan and having a Mayor of London?

-
1. Supported and promoted by alt-right groups online. 2. Similar marches have ended in violence, last 'free speech' protest violence in London directed at the police. 3. Police cuts have seen a rise in violent crime nationally, so why have Police Commissioners or councils
-
1. Evidence? Which groups? You just made an assertion. And do you mean by 'alt right'? 2. The free speech marches were on the whole peaceful, with a small group of idiotic far right and Antifa thugs causing a small pocket of violence. Again, which group is organising this?
-
3. I'm not claiming that the govt doesn't have any responsibility. Are you claiming that Sadiq Khan has no responsibility whatsoever? If so, what's the point of him?
-
The Home Office st the Policing and Fire budget, prior to Khan becoming Mayor Police numbers were cut the budget has not increased with inflation so is being cut in real terms. But the only place you can easily find a copper in London is Downing St and the Palace of Westminster.
-
This is where your immaturity and ignorance is starting to show. I accept the govt is partly responsible. You're still insisting Khan has nothing to do with it - mentality of a child. What has Khan been doing for the past 2 yrs? Twiddle his thumb? What am I paying his wages for?
-
He has to balance a budget that has taken a lot of cuts and is still facing cuts from central government, the ignorance about central government finance is yours. It is continuing to be cut. Fortunately I have a pretty mature understanding of L.A. finance - do you?

£ 58k?? Do they realise how much good they could have done with that money? Sad!
-
Totally agree with you, imagine the good that could’ve been done with the millions spent policing the anti trump protests by a few unwashed students and self entitled plonkers ! What a waste of money all round
-
Today’s students are quite self conscious about looks/hygiene. So the unwashed adjective doesn’t really work.
-
And there were like 300,000 people in the streets so it doesn’t work on any level at all

Not very nice to refer to people demonstrating their democratic right to protest as twats.
-
With a laugh emoji afterwards as well. Tut tut.
