I imagine a lot of testing to make an Iksar (EQ race) that'd have different reactions to nearly all NPCs in game plus battlegrounds.

I think the real test would be to take a Pandaren as far as possible without choosing a faction and seeing what major cities, quests, and NPC reactions are available.
It's been forever since starting a Pandaran... Is it easily possible to leave their starting zone without choosing a faction?

In Mists they'd only give one or the other faction as an option. That was the case early in Legion as well. King Neutral levels without choosing, but my guess is that gameplay wise such a character is fucked. Sorry but I can't see any other word fit in. In our theme park MMO

You can't leave the starting island at all. Most people who level a neutral panda do so by professions. You have to choose a faction to leave at all
