Taking a hard look at taxes today. I think if instead of just blindly taking money out of your paycheck, if the government sent you a monthly tax bill, a lot more people would be up in arms about how their tax money is being used by politicians. Things would be much different
Brilliant idea. If the entire action of actually collecting the money were possible (companies often cannot get people to pay their <$100 bills), it would be a serious eye opener. Would launch immediate change and priority spending dicussions.

Yeah, I can see a lot of people saying something like, "WTF do you mean I have to pay you $500/mo....for WHAT?" Ironically, this is how it is for business owners and self employed. We have to pay quarterly and many want to stick it to business. If they felt that pain, though...

If everyday citizens had to budget for the tax bill each month, seeing a pothole, or not seeing legislature being passed, it would prompt more people to be involved, I think voter turnout would be much higher too (on all sides)

whereas right now its mostly out of sight out of mind for most people, but lets say people get hit with 500-$2000 tax bills from federal, 100-500 tax bills from state each month, on top of rent/mortgage, utilities, people would be like, what are we really getting for the $ spent
