Varian was an active leader in the Alliance since Wrath, participating in every major event as a leader & sacrifices himself so that his forces could get away. It's not a HvA thing at all. If it was Thrall was Varian, ensuring the survival of the Horde, it would be the same.
I mean, yeah that would probably be true. But I still didn't feel anything for Varian.
