I guess I'd rather have new stories than Blizzard pulling out the corpse of a character who has well overstayed their welcome to beat it a little longer to pander to nostalgia. But hey that's just me.
Sometimes they can get a new character right and other times it's just a flat character sadly. I'd say with Thrall they've found a good middle of when to use him and when not to use him after WoD.

New characters usually end up fine when they give them time which they don’t usually do. Case in point Wrathion and Thalyssra. You’ve gotta commit the time to new characters not throw them out if not immediately popular. Plus plenty old characters who haven’t seen the light of
