I'd rather Yrel remain in lore limbo on AU Draenor then show up and die as a dungeon or raid boss.

There's also Ion's comments about the world tree when everyone immediately guessed what would happen. Either these guys weren't in the know and shouldn't have answered. They changed their minds. Or they lied to the players to throw them off. Or some combination varying to each.
A lot of these things you're talking about seem like all things spoken about before the expansion occurred. Which... they've done that multiple times in other expansions too. Good example is in TBC Illidan was meant to be the final baddie but they changed their minds about it.

Things change during development. And other things they clearly can't say without spoiling or ruining their contracts. They really shouldn't have said, "Sylvanas won't burn the tree" or anything similar but they did and that's their whoops.
