Sounds like they simply had to say, "She's not Garrosh 2.0" which she wasn't but she also clearly was evil. Anything with Sylvanas in BfA was a negative for me so I am not gonna defend anything regarding that. Saurfang and Jaina were the parts I'll choose to remember fondly.

There's also Ion's comments about the world tree when everyone immediately guessed what would happen. Either these guys weren't in the know and shouldn't have answered. They changed their minds. Or they lied to the players to throw them off. Or some combination varying to each.

A lot of these things you're talking about seem like all things spoken about before the expansion occurred. Which... they've done that multiple times in other expansions too. Good example is in TBC Illidan was meant to be the final baddie but they changed their minds about it.
