I have doubts about that quite honestly considering we have entire planets in the Shadowlands that were killed by the Legion and their denizens inhabit the Shadowlands just fine.

We thought the same about Frostmourne and look what happened; might very well be a "resilient soul of a true warrior" situation with Varian, despite (or even because of) what Gul'Dan did to him.

From what I understand,, Frostmourne absorbed souls into its blade, it didn't destroy them.

Being killed by the Legion doesn't mean your soul is destroyed. Being destroyed by Fel magic obliterates the soul. Varian was murdered by the latter. Thats part of what makes Fel magic so cruel.

I'm going to wait and see if that's the case for when it comes to Varian. As we don't know if that operates in the Shadowlands and if his soul was truly destroyed by Gul'daniel.
