What pushes me away most of the time is the power trip. It feels like people who just want to talk down, be rude, and just plain act like an ass because of 'rank'. Or the lack of listening to ideas. Or that it feels like the officer core is just about them at events.
Back when I led a Military RP guild I tried my best to make sure the other members felt involved in the story & were just as powerful. I did make the mistake of giving Officers and myself unique abilities but it was more-so to make the events easier and make the leaders known.

And I see no issue with that. It's tough. Problem is that people can abuse what they have a bit too easily. "But it's like that in real life." Alright. We're playing with dolls and trying to have fun.
